The idea and concept behind this activity were to do little more than others.
According to the research, there are more than 150 Engineering universities in Pakistan, and every year thousands of Engineer comes to market for the jobs. If we will see the ratio of Engineers and jobs there is Huge Huge difference between them in Pakistan, because for one position almost in thousands of applicants is applying.
Then how to stand out in this competitive environment where everyone wants to get an interview call?
On this question, I am going to share my personal experience, when I knew about this activity I tried to find out any company related to my field (Chemical Engineering, but unfortunately, no one taking applications for a job. Then I decided to find sales and Call center organizations, Luckily I found a company on Indeed.pk and they are looking for “ Social Media Chat Representatives”. Without any delay, I applied online and printed a resume as well as a cover letter, and went to their office (Adress: 4th floor, connect center, RJ mall besides Millenium Mall, Rashid Minhas Road, Gulistan e Johar, Karachi), Hiring manager smiled and said “ Beta es ke to zarort nhi thi, you have to apply online” then I also smiled and said yes sir I have also applied online then he again smiled and said, “ Oh! that’s good, thank you”. And the next day I got a message about the interview, that was really amazing and I felt very happy :)
It happened only because of going through the extra mile for dropping resume and cover letter In-person. As the majority of applicants only send resumes and among them, few send resumes along with a cover letter but no one goes the extra mile to give a resume and cover letter in-person to the Hiring Manager.
So I will recommend to all fellows and readers whenever you will apply for any job, try to make sure give the resume and cover letter also in-person to the Hiring Manager, it will help you to stand out from all applicants.
